Geometric habits of mind is the center of thegeometric problem-solving process. Individuals with geometric habits of mindhave four basic habits. These habits are reasoning with relationships,generalizing geometric ideas, investigating invariants and balancingexploration and reflection. It is possible talk about affective factors ofgeometric habits of mind as well as cognitive factors. Affective factors can beexpress the feelings and opinion of individuals about the problem of geometry. Oneof these factors is the attitude towards geometry. In this context, in theresearch, the relationship between 10th Science High School Students’ GeometricHabits of Mind and Attitudes towards Geometry is investigated. The datacollection tools are Geometric Habits of Mind Test developed by the researcherand Geometry Attitude Scale developed by Bindak (2004). Correlation analysiswas performed to determine the relationship between students' habits of mindand attitudes towards geometry and simple regression analysis was performed toreveal the predictive power of the attitude on geometric habits of mind. Theresults shows that the attitude towards geometry was a significant predictor ofgeometric habits of mind (R = 0.883,R2 = 0.78, F(1, 122) = 431.291, p < .00). |

Geometrik düşünme alışkanlığı, geometrikproblem çözme sürecinin temelini oluşturur. Geometrik düşünme alışkanlığınasahip olan bireylerin dört temel alışkanlığı vardır. Bu alışkanlıklar;ilişkilendirme alışkanlığı, geometrik fikirlerin genelleştirilmesi alışkanlığı,değişmezleri araştırma alışkanlığı ve keşfetme ve yansıtma alışkanlığıdır. Geometrikdüşünme alışkanlıklarının bilişsel boyutunun yanı sıra bu boyutu etkileyenduyuşsal faktörlerden söz etmek mümkündür. Duyuşsal faktörlerin, bireylerinkarşılaştığı geometri problemine yönelik duygularını, görüşlerini ifade ettiğisöylenebilir. Bu faktörlerden biri de geometriye yönelik tutumdur. Bu bağlamda araştırmada onuncu sınıf fen lisesiöğrencilerinin geometrik düşünme alışkanlıkları ile geometriye yöneliktutumları arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak,araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Geometrik Düşünme Alışkanlıkları Testi veBindak (2004) tarafından geliştirilen Geometri Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır.Öğrencilerin geometriye yönelik tutumları ile geometrik düşünme alışkanlıklarıarasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek için korelasyon analizi ve geometriye yöneliktutumun geometrik düşünme alışkanları üzerindeki yordayıcı gücünü ortaya koymakiçin basit regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilensonuçlar; geometriye yönelik tutumun, geometrik düşünme alışkanlıklarınınanlamlı bir yordayıcısı olduğunu göstermektedir (R = 0.883, R2 = 0.78, F(1, 122) = 431.291, p < .00). |
