dc.description Fibers reeled from cocoons produced by Bombyx Mori silkworms are called as “silk”. The overall production of silk fibers accounts for 0.175% of world's fiber production. However, if we make the evaluations based on price, significance of the high value-added silk industry can be understood more clearly. In this article, information about the background and the present status of the silk fibers is given.
