Kentlerde meydana gelen kentsel yığılmalarabağlı olarak gelişen sağlıksız mekanların oluşması, arazi kullanımınınsağlıksız biçimde genişlemesi kentsel sürdürülebilirlik kavramını gündemegetirmiştir. Sürdürülebilir kentleşme mekânsal gelişme hedeflenirken bugününihtiyaçlarını gelecek kuşakların kendi ihtiyaçlarını karşılamasına mâniolmayacak yöntemlerle karşılayan, koruma-kullanma dengesi kavramına atıftabulunarak tanımlanmaktadır. Sürdürülebilir kentleşme konusunda yapılmış kaydadeğer pek çok çalışma, sürdürülebilir kentleşmeye dair 40'tan fazla göstergeortaya koymuştur. Çevresel süreç olarak bakıldığında ise, mevcut kaynakakışındaki kısıtlamaların dikkate alınarak tabii kaynakların bilinçli vebilinçsiz tüketiminin ortadan kaldırılması bugün ve gelecek kuşak adına önemteşkil etmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, sürdürülebilir kentleşme üzerineyapılan araştırmalar ışığında sürdürülebilirlik prensiplerini genel hatları ileortaya koymaktır. Çalışma konusu olan Buldan yerleşkesi planlama alanındasürdürülebilir kentleşme prensipleri temelinde mekânsal, çevresel, ekonomik vekültürel politikalarının ve yol haritasının oluşturulması hedeflenmiştir.Araştırma, stratejik mekânsal yaklaşımı temel alan yöntem kurgusu temelinde, arazitespit ve gözlem çalışmaları çerçevesi ve GZFT analizi ışığında ele alınmıştır.Araştırmanın sonunda, tarihte dokuma kenti olarak değerlendirilen Buldanyerleşmesi bütününde sürdürülebilir bir kentleşme modeli tanımlanabilmiştir. Bumodel sürdürülebilir gelişme kavramında kent plancılara ve karar alıcılararehberlik edebilecek çevresel, mekânsal, ekonomik ve kültürel bileşenlerdenoluşan bütünleşik bir plan kurgusunu içermektedir. _________________________________________________________________________________Sustainable Urbanization: a Study of aTextile Town Buldan AbstractThe development of unhealthy places due tourban accumulation in urban areas and the unhealthy expansion of land use havebrought about the concept of urban sustainability. Sustainable urbanization isdefined by the concept of conservation-utilization balance, which providestoday's needs with methods that will not prevent future generations frommeeting their own needs when spatial development is targeted. Various studies onsustainable urbanization have produced more than 40 indicators of sustainableurbanization. The conscious and unconscious consumption of natural resourceshas been lifted in consideration of the limitations of the current resourceflow, which is important for the present and future generations. The aim ofthis research is to outline the principles of sustainability in the light ofresearches on sustainable urbanization in general terms. In the field of Buldansettlement planning, which is the subject of the study, it is aimed to createspatial, environmental, economic and cultural policies and determine road mapon the basis of sustainable urbanization principles. The research is based onthe methodology based on strategic spatial approach, the field survey andobservational studies framework and SWOT analysis. A sustainable model ofurbanization has been defined throughout Buldan settlement, which is consideredas a textile settlement in history.
