İstanbul'un Üsküdar ilçesinin enkuzeyinde Anadoluhisarı ile Vaniköy arasında ve Boğaziçi kıyısında bulunan birsemt olan Kandilli, 19. yüzyılın sonlarında gerek Fransız tebaanın gereksediğer yabancıların yoğun olarak yaşadığı bir bölge niteliğindedir. Çoğu kezBoğaz’ın doğal güzelliğinin bir parçası olarak görülen semt aynı zamanda,Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi belgeleri içinde yer alan bir yapının izinsiz inşasüreci ile belediye yetkililerinin gündemini de işgal etmiştir. Belediye veinşaat sahibi arasında anlaşmazlığa sebep olan olay; Kandilli’de yaşayanFransızların çocukları için yapıldığı öne sürülen bir okulun inşasına ilişkinbazı bilgileri içermektedir. 19. yüzyılın sonlarında, Beyoğlu Fransız KızMektebi’nin müdiresi Madam Deveaux’nün para toplayarak Kandilli Adile SultanSarayı civarında ve Rum mezarlığı karşısında inşa etmek istediği konutunun,Kandilli’de yaşayan Fransız Katolik tebaa adına inşa edilen bir okul olduğuiddiası bu makalenin konusunu oluşturmuştur. Bu iddia aracılığıyla, konutun bireğitim yapısı haline dönüştürülebilme olasılığına ilişkin tespitlerdeğerlendirilerek; tasarımsal ve mekânsal ayrımların çizimler üzerindenokunamamasına ilişkin sorunsalların metinde tartışılması olanaklı halegetirilmiştir.  _________________________________________________________________________________Demand and Intention Dilemma or Discredit of the Design:Construction of the French School in Kandilli at the end of the 19th CenturyAbstractKandilli, a district located betweenthe Anadoluhisarı and Vaniköy and the Bosphorus shore at the northern end ofthe Üsküdar district of Istanbul, is a region where both French people andother foreigners lived intensively in the late 19th century. Often seen as apart of the natural beauty of the Bosphorus, the district also occupied theagenda of the municipal authorities with the unauthorized construction processof a building within the documents of the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives. Theevent causing the dispute between the municipality and the building ownercontains some information on the construction of a school projected forchildren of the French living in Kandilli. The subject of the article is aboutthe claim, which is about the house that was meant to be constructed across theGreek Cemetery and around Kandilli Adile Sultan Palace by gathering Money byMadame Deveaux who was the principle of Beyoğlu French Girls School was aschool constructed for French Catholic People living in Kandilli at the end ofthe 19th century.
