Bu çalışmada H. III. asır müfessirlerinden biri olan Süfyân es-Sevrî'nin tefsiri ve eserde geçen ulûmu'l-Kur'ân konuları araştırılmıştır. Erken dönem tefsirlerinin genel özelliği olarak eserde geniş açıklamalara yer verilmemiş, âyetler kısa ifadelerle izah edilmiştir. Elde edilen nüshanın baş tarafı eksik olduğundan mukaddimesinin varlığı bilinememektedir. Sevrî tefsiri bir ulûmu'l-Kur'ân eseri olmamakla birlikte çeşitli ulûmu'l-Kur'ân konularını kapsamaktadır. Tespit edilen başlıca ulûmu'l-Kur'ân konuları esbâbu'n-nüzûl, nâsih mensûh, muhkem müteşâbih, hurûf-ı mukattaa, emsâlu'l-Kur'ân ve kırâat farklılıklarıdır. Ayrıca eser ahkâma dâir çok sayıda nakil ihtivâ etmektedir. Taberî başta olmak üzere birçok müfessire kaynaklık eden bu eser, erken dönem tefsirleri içinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. In this study, the tafsir (exegesis of Qur'an) of Sufyan al-Thawri, one of the munfarids of the third century AH (Anno Hegirae), and the subjects of Uloom Al-Qur'an (Sciences of Qur'an) discussed in that tafsir have been researched. As a general feature of early tafsirs, the interpretations in the work are not extensive and the ayats (verses of Qur'an) are explained briefly. Since the initial part of the book is missing, it is not known whether there is a preface or not. Thawri's tafsir is not a work of uloom al-Qur'an but it covers various subjects of uloom al-Qur'an. Main uloom al-Qur'an subjects are asbab an-nuzul (the causes of revelation), al-nasikh wa al-mansukh (the understanding of its abrogated rulings and verses), muhkam and mutashabih (the knowledge of the various classifications of its verses), al-huroof al-muqatta'ah (letters which appear at the beginning of some soorahs), amsal al-Qur'an (examples mentioned in the Qur'an) and different recitations. Besides, the work includes a large number of narrations regarding the judgments. This work, which is the source of many munfarids particularly Taberi, has an important place in early tafsirs.
