Şerif Gören Türk sinemasına damga vuran yönetmenlerden birisi olmuştur. Türk sinemasının gelişim sürecinin hemen her döneminde ön plana çıkan, önemli ödüller alan yönetmenlerindendir. Gerek değindiği konular gerekse verdiği mesajlar çerçevesinde toplumsal olgu ve olayları tüm gerçekliği ile izleyicisine yansıtmıştır. Sinemada önceleri özne olarak önemsenmeyen kadın, feminist hareketin etkisiyle kendisine yer bulmaya başlamıştır. Araştırma kapsamında dul kadın olgusu Gören'in sineması çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Dulluk toplumumuzda özellikle genç kadınlar için toplumsal, ekonomik, sosyal, cinsel anlamda birçok problemin habercisi olmaktadır. Dul kadının yaşadığı bu toplumsal sorunlar, toplumun bir aynası olan sinemanın da konusu haline gelmiştir. Bu çerçevede dul kadının toplumsal alanda yaşamış olduğu problemler içerik analizi metoduyla irdelenmiştir. Sinemanın görsel ve işitsel materyallerinden yararlanılmış ve belirlenen kategoriler çerçevesinde çözümleme yapılmıştır. Şerif Gören has been one of the prominent directors marking his name in the Turkish Cinema. He was a director being awarded prizes at every development phase of the Turkish movie industry. Regarding both the themes and messages conveyed in his films he has reflected all social facts and phenomena most realistically. The woman which has initially been insignificant in the Turkish cinema has started to be recognized by the impact of feminist movements. The content of the research is confined to the phenomenon of widower woman within Gören's cinema. The widowhood especially for young women proves to be the precursor of many a social, economic, sexual problem. The problems which the widower woman experiences has been a subject matter of the cinema as the mirror of the society. Within this framework the set of problems the widower woman confronts in social sphere has been elaborated by content analysis method.
