Bu tez çalışmasında, doğrusal olmayan koşullu değişen varyans modellerinden ARCH, GARCH, EGARCH, TGARCH ve PGARCH modelleri ile Euro/Dolar paritesinin modellenmesi ve alternatif modeller arasından en iyi performansı gösteren modelin saptanması amaçlandı. 04.01.2007-30.09.2018 tarihleri arasındaki Euro/Dolar günlük parite verileri kullanıldı. Veriler, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Merkez Bankası resmi web sitesinden alınmıştır. Öncelikle veriler, getiri serisi haline dönüştürülerek, getiri serisinin grafiği incelendi. Getiri serisinin grafiğinden oynaklığın belirli dönemlerde arttığı görüldü. Günlük getiri serisinin durağan olup olmadığının araştırılması için Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) birim kök testi kullanıldı. Döviz kuru getiri serileri sırasıyla, sabit ve trend içermeyen, sadece sabit içeren ve sabit ve trend içeren regresyonlar baz alınarak ADF testleri yapıldı. Her üç durumda bulunan olasılık değerlerinin 0.05 kritik değerinden daha küçük olduğu görüldü. Bu ortaya çıkan sonuç, getiri serisinin durağan olduğunu dolayısıyla birim kök içermediğini göstermektedir. Getiri serisi durağan olduğundan, en uygun koşullu ortalama denklemini tahmin etmek için En Küçük Kareler (EKK) yöntemi kullanıldı. Koşullu ortalama denkleminin tahmininde otokorelasyon ve kısmi otokorelasyonlara bakılarak ve farklı modeller denenerek, en iyi modelin ARMA(2,4) modeli olduğu saptandı. Bunun yanı sıra, ortalama denklemin artıklarının ARCH etkisine sahip olduğu belirlendi. Getiri serisi ARCH etkisine sahip olduğundan, getiri oynaklıkları, farklı dereceler sınanarak koşullu değişen varyans modelleri, ARCH, GARCH, EGARCH, TGARCH ve PGARCH ile test edildi. Tahmin sonuçları, parametre anlamlılığı, katsayıların pozitif ve negatif olma durumları, negatif ve pozitif şokların oynaklığa etkisi kriterlerine göre değerlendirildi. Yapılan testlerde, AIC (Akaike info criterion) değeri ne kadar küçükse yakışma da o kadar iyi denilebilir. Modeller karşılaştırılırken en iyi sonuç olarak AIC değeri düşük olan tercih edilir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda en iyi olan modelin EGARCH(2,2) olduğu saptandı. Euro/Dolar paritesinin getiri serisine ait koşullu değişen varyansların şoklara karşı farklı tepkiler verdiği belirlendi. EGARCH modeline göre negatif şokların oynaklıkta daha etkili olduğu, TGARCH modeline göre negatif şokların oynaklığı artırdığı, PGARCH modeline göre EGARCH modelinin tersine pozitif şokların oynaklığa daha fazla etkisi olduğu söylenebilir. In this dissertation, it was aimed to model of Euro/Dollar parity by using ARCH, GARCH, EGARCH, TGARCH and PGARCH models from non-linear conditional heteroscedasticity models and to determine the best performance model among alternative models. Euro/Dollar daily parity data, which is between 04.01.2007- 30.09.2018, were used. The data are taken from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey official website. First of all, the graph of return series was examined by converting the data into the return series. Volatility increasing was observed from the graph of the return series during certain periods. The Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) root test was used to investigate if it is static or not. The ADF tests performed on the return series of currency exchange based on respectively, fixed and non-trend containing, only fixed containing, fixed and trend based regressions. The probability values which found all three cases were observed less than 0.05 critical value. This result shows that the return series is static therefore does not contain unit roots. Since the return series was stationary, the Least Squares Method (LSM) was used to estimate the most appropriate conditional mean equation. In the estimation of conditional mean equation the best model was determined ARMA(2,4) model by looking at autocorrelation and partial autocorrelations and trying different models. In addition, it was determined the residues of the average equation had the effect of ARCH. Since the return series had the effect of ARCH, the return volatiles performed test by trying different degrees of heteroscedasticity which are ARCH, GARCH, EGARH, TGARCH and PGARCH. Estimation results were evaluated according to the parameter significance, the negativity or positivity of coefficients, the impact of negative and positive shocks to the volatility. In the performed tests it could say that the smaller AIC values the fitter conditions. When comparing models, the model, which AIC value is low, is preferred as the best result. As a result of analysis the best model was determined that the heteroscedasticities which depend on the return series of Euro/Dollar parity gave diversified reactions over the shocks. These could claim that according to EGARCH Model, negative shocks are more effective in volatility, according to TGARCH model negative shocks promote that volatility, according to PGARCH positive shocks have more effects on volatility in contrast to EGARCH.
