Araştırmada, kültürel kaynak değerleri, sosyal ve tarihi dokusu ile önem taşıyan Vezirköprü'nün, kentsel sit alanının mevcut durumunun korunması, günümüz koşullarında sürdürülebilirliğinin sağlanması, korunması ve iyileştirme potansiyelinin Peyzaj Mimarlığı meslek disiplini ile birlikte değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, çalışma ile Vezirköprü tarihi kent merkezinde etkin bir korumanın sağlanması için peyzaj mimarlığı değerlendirmesi açından planlama kararlarına yönelik öneriler geliştirilmiştir. Çalışma sürecinde izlenen yöntem ile kentin tarihi ve mekânsal gelişim süreci içinde fiziksel yapısının incelenmesi, tarihi yapılar ile kent dokusunun (cadde, sokak, meydan tarihi bina vs.) öneminin saptanması ve tarihsel çevre içinde dokuyu olumsuz etkileyen durumlar yenileme yapılacak yerler, iyileştirme yapılacak yerler, tasarım ve kullanım açısından mevcut yanlışlar, yaşayan halkın ve kullanıcıların istek ve önerileri saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak tarihi çevrelerin korunması gerekliliğinin ortaya konduğu, yenilik ya da iyileştirme yapılacaksa da yine koruma kanunlarına uygun bir şekilde olması gerektiği günümüz modern yaşam koşullarıyla uygunluğunun sağlandığı, kültürel kimliğini sürdüren ve yaşanabilir mekânlar olarak gelecek nesillere aktarılmasında kalıcı ve etkin olacak planlar için kararlar geliştirilmiştir. In this research, it is aimed to evaluate the current situation of Vezirköprü, which is important with its cultural resource values, social and historical texture, and to ensure the sustainability, preservation and improvement potential of today's urban conditions together with the Landscape Architecture professional discipline. In this direction, in order to provide effective protection in the historical city center of Vezirköprü, suggestions were made for planning decisions in terms of landscape architecture evaluation. Examination of the physical structure of the city in the historical and spatial development process with the method followed in the study process, determination of the importance of historical buildings and urban fabric (street, street, square historical building etc.) existing mistakes in terms of design and usage, wishes and suggestions of living people and users were determined. As a result, decisions have been developed for permanent and effective plans that will ensure the preservation of historical environments, which are compatible with today's modern living conditions, which should be in accordance with the protection laws, even if innovation or improvement will be made, and will be transferred to future generations as living spaces.
