Bir ülkede ekonomik büyümenin sağlanıp sürdürülebilir olması için o ülkede yaşayan bireylerin bedensel ve ruhsal yönden iyi olmaları gerekmektedir. Sağlık, bireyin verimliliğini arttırarak beşeri sermayenin oluşmasında önemli rol oynarken aynı zamanda ekonomik büyümeye de katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, komünizm sisteminin çöküşünden sonra Merkezi ve Doğu Avrupa ülkelerinde (CEEC) sağlık harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada 1995-2016 yıllarını kapsayan dönemde sağlık harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi 8 Doğu ve Merkezi Avrupa ülkesi için panel veri analizi yardımıyla araştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucu, ekonomik büyümeden sağlık harcamalarına doğru çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. |

In order to maintain and sustain an economic growth in a country, it is necessary for the individuals living in that country to be good both physically and psychologically. Health plays an important role in the formation of human capital by increasing the productivity of the individuals and at the same time contributes to economic growth. The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between economic growth and health expenditure in Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) after the collapse of the communist system. For this purpose, the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth in the 1995-2016 period is investigated by panel data analysis for 8 Eastern and Central European countries. The result of the study reveals that there is a bi-directional causality relationship between economic growth and health expenditures. |
