Merhamet, en basit tanımıyla acıma ve şefkat hissi anlamına gelmektedir. İnsan yaşamının söz konusu olduğu sağlık alanında en mühim görevi üstlenen sağlık profesyonellerinin hastalarına merhamet etmesi oldukça doğal bir durumdur. Gün içerisinde bakılan hasta sayısının fazla olması, hastaların acı ve ağrılarına sürekli tanık olma bu durumu etkilemektedir yani bu durum sağlık profesyonellerinde merhamet etmekten doğan bir yorgunluğa sebep olmaktadır. Oluşan bu yorgunluğun hasta güvenliği üzerinde etkisi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmada sağlık profesyonellerinin merhamet yorgunluğu düzeyinin hasta güvenliği kültürü üzerine etkisinin incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçla hekim ve hemşirelerin merhamet yorgunluğu düzeyleri ve hasta güvenliği tutum algılamaları değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini, Isparta il merkezinde faaliyet göstermekte olan Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi ve Isparta Şehir Hastanesinde çalışan 1579 hekim ve hemşire oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda 415 sağlık profesyoneline ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak olarak Adams ve arkadaşları tarafından geliştirilen Hür tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan 13 maddeden oluşan "Merhamet Yorgunluğu-Kısa Ölçek" ve Sexton ve arkadaşları tarafından geliştirilen, Baykal ve arkadaşları tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan 46 maddelik "Hasta Güvenliği Tutum Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, sağlık profesyonellerinin merhamet yorgunluğu düzeyinin hasta güvenliği tutumunu negatif yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. Sağlık profesyonellerinin merhamet yorgunluğunun, yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, gelir durumu, mesleki yıl ve hastane hizmet süresine göre farklılık göstermediği tespit edilmiştir. Sağlık profesyonellerinin hasta güvenliği tutumunun ise yaş, medeni durum, gelir durumu, mesleki yıl değişkenlerine göre farklılık gösterdiği saptanmıştır. Compassion, in its simplest definition, is a feeling of pity and kindness. It is quite natural that healthcare professionals, who assume the most important role in the field of health where human life is concerned, have compassion on their patients. The fact that the number of patients cared during the day is high and the constant witness to the pain and soreness of the patients affects this situation, so this causes a fatigue caused by compassion in the health professionals. This fatigue is thought to have an effect on patient safety. In this study, investigate the effect of compassion fatigue level on health safety culture of health was aimed. For this purpose, compassion fatigue levels and patient safety attitude perceptions of physicians and nurses were evaluated. The population of the study consists of 1579 physicians and nurses working in Süleyman Demirel University Research and Application Hospital and Isparta City Hospital, which is active in Isparta city center. In this context, 415 health professionals were reached. "Compassion Fatigue-Short Scale" which is consist of 13 items, developed by Adams et al adaptation by Hür to Turkish and "Safety Attitudes Questionnaire" which is consist 46 items, developed by Sexton et al and adaptation by Baykal were used as data collection tools. According to the results of the research, it is shown compassion fatigue level of health professionals has a negative affects patient safety attitude. It was determined that compassion fatigue of health professionals did not differ according to age, gender, marital status, income status, number of years in the profession and hospital service period. On the other hand, it was found that the health care professionals' patient safety attitude differ according to the variables of age, marital status, income status and number of years in the profession.
