There has been increasing international tourism mobility in our global world. Majority of scientific researchers claimed that there is a cause-effect relationship between the figures related to the international tourism, which has been increasingly getting important in terms of economic, social, cultural and political life of the nations in the world, and the international trade that is vital for the wealth of nations. By analyzing the data set special to Turkey between the years 2003 and 2020, the subject of this article is to show the role and the effect of international tourism figures within foreign trade and the economic development and welfare of the countries as well. Having analyzed the data set, it is concluded in this study that there is a strong cause-effect relationship between the international tourism and foreign trade in spite of the fact that there is disproportional relationship between the total number of international tourists and the total revenue between the years, 2003-2020 in Turkey. It is shown that the policy makers should take this cause-effect relationship between international tourism and trade into consideration to increase the wealth of their nations.Yüzyılımızda hızla globalleşen dünyada ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel ve siyasi anlamda giderek daha önemli hale gelen uluslararası turizm hareketliliği yaşanmaktadır. Kuramsal araştırmalar, uluslararası turizm ve uluslararası ticaret arasında nedensellik anlamında önemli oranda bir ilişkinin varlığını iddia etmektedir. Bu makalede, 2003-2020 yıllarını kapsayan son dönem turizm ve dış ticaret verileri bazında nedensellik ilişkisi incelenerek, Türkiye örneği üzerinden, uluslararası turizm hareketlerinin uluslararası ticaret ile ilişkisi ve ülkelerin ekonomik gelişimi ve refahına etkisindeki rolü konu edilmektedir. Veri setleri analiz edilerek elde edilen çalışma bulgularına göre, 2003-2020 yılları arasında, Türkiye’deki uluslararası turizm gelir ve giderleri ile uluslararası ticaret kalemleri arasında turist sayıları ile orantısız ve fakat güçlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, politika yapıcıların, ülkelerin ekonomik gelişimi ve refahı için geliştirecekleri stratejilerde, bu pozitif ilişkinin daima göz önünde bulundurulması gerekecek kadar önemli olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır
