Kişiliği etkileyen faktörlerden biri olan meslek, günümüz çalışma şartlarına göre hayatın büyük bir kısmını almaktadır. Bireyin, tercih ettiği mesleğe göre hayatı şekillenmektedir. Mesleklerin farklı amaç ve nitelikleri olması nedeniyle çalışanlardan beklentileri değişim göstermektedir. Farklı kişilik özelliklerine sahip olan çalışanlar da mesleğe bu özelliklerini yansıtmaktadırlar. Bu nedenle, meslek ve çalışan arasında bir etkileşim oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; mesleğin kişilik özellikleri üzerindeki yansımalarını tespit etmek ve bu yansımaların nedenlerini tanımlayarak kavramsallaştırmaktır. Çalışma, nitel araştırma tekniklerinden biri olan gömülü teori (Grounded Theory) ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında, pilot görüşmeler sonrasında oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile 9 yoğun bakım hemşiresi, 9 sınıf öğretmeni ve 7 asker olmak üzere toplam 25 katılımcı ile derinlemesine mülakat yapılmıştır. Ses kayıt cihazı kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen görüşmenin kayıtları, deşifre edilerek doküman haline getirilmiştir. Gömülü teori gereklerine uygun olarak veriler kodlanmış, analiz edilmiş ve araştırmacının yapmış olduğu gözlemler eşliğinde yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, çalışma kapsamına alınan meslekleri icra edenlerin mesleki süreç içerisinde, mesleklerine bağlı değişim gösterdikleri ve mesleğin kişilik özellikleri üzerinde farklı yansımaları olduğu görülmüştür. Mesleğin, sınıf öğretmenlerinin kişiliklerine; adaletli, kuralcı, düzenli, eşitlikçi, çocuk ruhlu, sevecen ve alıngan gibi özelliklerle yansıdığı tespit edilmiş olup askerlerin kişiliklerine ise disiplinli, özgüvenli, mesafeli, net ve gururlu gibi özelliklerle yansıdığı görülmüştür. Meslek, yoğun bakım hemşirelerine ise rasyonel bir bakış açısı kazandırmakla birlikte hemşirelerin pratik, özverili, titiz, soğukkanlı ve çözüm odaklı gibi özellikler edindikleri görülmüştür. Araştırmaya konu olan meslekleri icra edenlerin değişim nedenlerinin temelinde olduğu düşünülen olgu, "Meslek-Üye Etkileşimi" olarak kavramsallaştırılmıştır. Vocation, which is one of the factors affecting personality, takes a large part of life according to the working conditions of today. The life of an individual is shaped according to the vocation he/she prefers. Due to the different aims and qualifications of the vocations, the expectations of the employees vary. Employees with different personality traits reflect these characteristics to the vocation. Therefore, an interaction occurs between the vocation and the employee. The aim of this study is to determine the reflections of the vocation on personality traits and to conceptualize them by defining the reasons of these reflections. The study was conducted with Grounded Theory, one of the qualitative research techniques. Within the scope of the study, in-depth interviews were conducted with semi-structured interview form that was formed after the pilot interviews, with a total of 25 participants, including 9 intensive care nurses, 9 primary school teachers and 7 soldiers. The recordings of the interviews recorded with the voice recorder were decoded and documented. In accordance with the requirements of Grounded Theory, the data were coded, analyzed and interpreted with the observations of the researcher. As a result of the study, it was seen that those performing the vocations included in the scope of the study, showed changes depending on their vocations and had different reflections of the vocation on the personality traits. It was ascertained that vocation had such reflections on primary school teachers as; fair, prescriptive, neat, egalitarian, childlike, affectionate and resentful, as for soldiers it had reflections as; disciplined, self-confident, distanced, clear and proud. On the other hand, it was seen that, intensive care nurses, have gained a rational point of view, but they have also gained practical, self-sacrificing, meticulous, cold-blooded and solution-oriented features. The phenomenon, which is thought to be at the basis of the reasons of change performing the vocations in the scope of the research, is conceptualized as the "Vocation Member Exchange."
