dc.description The purpose of this study was to obtain information related to the predictive variables of forgiveness among Turkish married couples who had experienced a specific offense in their marriage. In accordance with this purpose, Marital Adjustment Test, Relationship Attribution Measure and Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Inventory were administered to 80 married couples. The results demonstrated that attributions especially responsibility attributions were the best predictor of forgiveness. For wives, responsibility attributions were seen to predict forgiveness, for husbands responsibility attributions and marital adjustment were the best predictors of forgiveness. In addition, sexes were differ only among transgression severity. In other words, wives found the transgression more hurtful than their husbands. Finally, it was found that the more severe the transgression increased, the more difficult the forgiveness became.
