dc.description Necip Fazil and Ahmet Hasim are among the prominent poets of 20th century Turkish poetry. This study analyzes a poem on the head by each poet (Serseri and Basim). In Necip Fazil's poem the head takes shape around the ego concept. Ahmet Hasim's poem turns the head into an ontological problem. The study makes use of the literary methods of intertextuality and comparative literature. In his poem Serseri, Necip Fazil expresses the incongruity between the subject and the society, people and the other beings and focuses on the negative influence of this on himself. He sees his head as the source of the incongruity. The different working of his mind, which he expresses through the word "head", emerges as a problem for him. On the other hand, Ahmed Hasim turns the physical structure and appearance of the head into a psychological problem related to an ugliness complex. This creates a psychological pressure on the artist. This study focuses on the way both poets approach the head by making use of the data provided by phenomenology and psychoanalysis.
