dc.description In the study, contents of phenolics and mineral substances in the kernels of several apricot cultivars were determined for two years. The bitter seed cultivars Alyanak, Karacabey and Paviot, and the sweet seed cultivars Aprikoz, Cataloglu, Cologlu, Hacihaliloglu, Ismailaga, Kabaasi and Sekerpare were used. The contents of phenolic compounds and minerals varied by year and cultivar. The mean gallic acid contents ranged from 0.825 mu g/g (Aprikoz) to 16.280 mu g/g (Karacabey), chlorogenic acid contents from 15.700 mu g/g (Aprikoz) to 89.300 mu g/g (Karacabey), catechin contents from 6.150 mu g/g (Aprikoz) to 22.730 mu g/g (Kabaasi), caffeic acid contents from 0.060 mu g/g (Aprikoz) to 0.480 mu g/g (Cologlu) and epicatechin contents from 0.060 mu g/g (Aprikoz) to 2.210 mu g/g (Kabaasi). Furthermore, a-coumaric acid was found in Cologlu (0.030 mu g/g), Kabaasi (0.040 mu g/g) and Alyanak (0.050 mu g/g) cultivars, while kaempherol was found in Karacabey (0.110 mu g/g) cultivar only. It was seen that bitter cultivars contained more chlorogenic and gallic acid than sweet cultivars. As the average of two years, K content of the cultivars ranged from 5.09 g/kg (Karacabey) to 8.47 g/kg (Aprikoz), P content from 3.53 mg/g (Karacabey) to 4.43 mg/g (Cataloglu), Ca content from 1.22 mg/g (Aprikoz) to 2.00 mg/g (Cataloglu), Mg content from 1.52 mg/g (Karacabey) to 2.23 mg/g (Cataloglu), Fe content from 0.010 mg/g (Karacabey) to 0.025 mg/g (Sekerpare), Zn content from 0.04 mg/g (Karacabey, Aprikoz, Cologlu, Hacihaliloglu, Ismailaga, Kabaasi) to 0.06 mg/g (Alyanak), Cu content from 0.007 mg/g (Karacabey) to 0.015 mg/g (Cataloglu, Hacihaliloglu, Ismailaga), Mn content from 0.008 mg/g (Aprikoz) to 0.013 mg/g (Paviot), and Na content from 0.09 mg/g (Cataloglu) to 0.14 mg/g (Paviot, Hacihaliloglu). Ag content was found in Alyanak (0.002 mg/g) cultivar only, whereas B, Se and Mo contents were found at trace amount. It was seen that the mineral contents in Karacabey were lower than in the other cultivars.
