The Vacuum System which is New Approach to Decrease Ammonia Level Use in Broiler Housing in Winter Season

dc.description Ammonia, carbon dioxide, vapor, other deleterious gases and microorganisms in the litter are the most important pollutants formed during husbandry and affecting animal health and performance. Level of these gases in poultry housings should be monitored. The objective of this study was to decrease their effect of NH(3) from broiler housing using self-constructed vacuum system with three different flow rates which 95, 305 and 990 m(3) h(-1) respectively. A vacuum pipe was placed at 30 cm above of the ground and this will suck and exhausted the ammonia that released from litter. The ammonia sensors were placed to different distances from the vacuum system and the effectiveness of the desired system were tested. Results revealed that the vacuum system were effective on reducing ammonia level without effecting internal temperature of poultry. Although this new system introduced here needs to be improved, it can be representing to the farmers.
