dc.description Umbilical venous catheterization is commonly used for treatment, monitoring, blood sampling in the neonatal intensive care unit. Reducing the number of intravenous intervention is the most important advantage. However, there are some rare and vital complications such as pleural effusion, pericardial effusion, cardiac tamponade, intraperitoneal fluid leakage. In this presentation we have two cases of pleural effusion and chylous ascites due to umbilical vein catheterization and we wanted to draw attention to the fact that every interventional procedure has various risks and and requires close monitoring.
