dc.description The results regarding uranium (U) and rhenium (Re) sorption from solutions containing both metals by AN-21 weakly basic anion exchange resin are presented in this article. The effects of the salt forms (sulphate, chloride, nitrate, hydroxide), the nature of the sulphate, nitrate, and chloride compounds (acids, sodium and zinc salts), and the carbonates at concentrations of 1 to 1000mol/m(3) were studied under static conditions. It was determined that rhenium from different solutions is well-sorbed by the salt forms and poorly sorbed by the hydrate forms. The nitrate and chloride compounds reduce rhenium sorption when their concentration is increased in contrast to the behaviour exhibited by the sulphate compounds. Uranium is well-sorbed by sulphate form of weakly basic anion exchange resin but only from sulphate solutions and dilute carbonate solutions. The different sorption characteristics of the metals were explained by considering their ionic states in the solutions.
