We have witnessed important fractures with regard to political tendencies and their distribution among political parties in the recent political elections in Turkey. Such fractures reflect the changes in the political landscape as well as the national and global socioeconomic and political transformation. It seems that the results of the nine local elections held since the 1960's have had strong similarities and relations with national political developments. This study aims to review and analyze the data related to the nine local elections with regard to the political tendencies in the elections and shifts in these tendencies along with the possible reasons for these shifts and the recent fracture in the political choices of the voters. For this purpose, provincial council elections and mayor elections have been included in the study. |
