dc.description In this study, wearing properties of bronze PM bearings were investigated. Three different bronze compositions were chosen for self-lubricating bearing material as follows i) 90%Cu+100%Sn ii) 90%Cu+90%Sn+1%C iii) 90%Cu+8.5%Sn+ 1.5%C. Pressed and sintered to 75%, 80% and 85% final densities specimen bearings were oil impregnated. Oil impregnation was performed as follows: Specimen bearings were submerged in i)at room temperature oil bath for 6 hours ii) at 80 degreesC temperature oil bath for 6 hours. Wear properties of sample bronze bearings were determined at three different sliding speeds; 0.48 m/s, 0.98 m/s, 1.39 m/s. SAE 1050 steel bar with 1 mum surface roughness and HRC 35 surface hardness was used as an abrasive partner for all bearings. During tests applied load and sliding speeds kept constant. Using experiment results final density- weight loss%, sliding speed-weight loss%, sliding distance-weight loss% curves were plotted. Wearing depth and metallography of bearings are also studied.
