dc.description Arundo donax (AD) is readily available in nature. The most important property of AD is that grows up easily and rapidly. The plant has a fibrous structure which is extracted from naturally available AD stem. The morphological properties of Arundo donax fibers (ADF) are examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). An attempt has been made to find out its suitability in decreasing moisture susceptibility. To this aim, specimens were prepared in different AD proportions by weight: 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, 1.00% and compacted with SuperPave Gyratory Compactor (SGC). The Indirect Tensile (IDT) Strength test has been performed on the specimens according to American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) T283. As a result, the Tensile Strength Ratio (TSR) has increased by adding ADF. ADF 0.25% and 0.50% added specimens are close to the line of equality. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
