dc.description Aim: In this retrospective study, it was aimed to determine the seroprevalence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) in women in the ages of 15-49, who admitted to our hospital in Isparta. Material and Method: Seroprevalence of CMV were determined among 15-49 aged women admitted to Suleyman Demirel University Research and Education Hospital between January 2013 and December 2013. CMV IgM and CMV IgG tests in the serum samplaes of the patients were measured with chemiluminescence method (Vitros, Johnson&Johnson, USA). CMV avidity tests in the serum of patients were measured with Enzyme-Linked Fluorescent Assay (ELFA) method (VIDAS, bio-Merieux, France). Results: Positive, border line and negative ratios of the CMV IgM antibodies were found as 4.4 %, 1.8% and 93.8 %, respectively. Positive, negative and border line ratios of the CMV IgG antibodies were found as 98.2 %, 0.3 % and 1.5 %, respectively. Discussion: 15-49 aged women has high seropositivity rate for CMV in Isparta region. Therefore the public spreading of CMV and the prevention of infections. Therefore, expectant mothers, should be educated about spread of the virus and risks of the congenital CMV infection.
