dc.description In 1921 the Aksam newspaper began to publish Yakup Kadri (Karaosmanoglu)'s novel Nur Baba (Father Nimbus) in the form of installments, but publication was discontinued shortly after because of a variety of reactions that the installments received from certain fractions in society. The work received similar reactions when it was published in book form in 1922. Later on when a film adaptation of Nur Baba was being made, the film set was attacked to prevent the shooting of the film. This novel, which caused a variety of reactions in different sections of society, eventually drew the attention of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as well. The novel also engaged some attention abroad.
