<p>Özet: Süleyman Demirel Döneminde (1965-1971) üniversitelerin fiziki kapasitelerini artırmak amacıyla; kontenjanları artırma, gece öğretimi ve ek kapasite yaratılması bakımından da özel yüksekokulların açılması gibi çok önemli adımlar atılmıştır. Koalisyon Hükümetleri Dönemi’nde (1961-1965) açılmasına büyük önem verilen özel yüksekokulların açılmasına Süleyman Demirel Dönemi’nde de devam edilmiştir. Özel yüksekokullar daha fazla bireyin yükseköğretimden yararlanmasının sağlanması bakımından önemli hamledir. AP’nin ekonomide benimsediği liberal politikalar nedeniyle özel yüksekokulların açılmasının desteklenmesi olumlu sonuçlar vermiştir. Ancak 1971 yılında 12 Mart Muhtırasıyla tek başına iktidar olan, III. Süleyman Demirel Hükümetinin istifa etmesi üzerine göreve gelen Nihat Erim Hükümeti Dönemi’nde özel yüksekokullar kapatılarak devlet üniversitelerine bağlanmıştır. Çalışmada Süleyman Demirel Döneminde (1965-1971) daha fazla lise mezununun yükseköğretimden yararlanmasını sağlamaya yönelik çalışmaların bir değerlendirmesi yapılmaya çalışılacaktır. <p>Abstract: Some very important steps, such as the opening of private schools and launching of evening education were taken in order to increase the physical capacity of universities. This practice was adopted in the faculties of some other universities. The opening of private higher schools was of great importance during the Coalition Governments during 1961-1965 and this policy continued into the term of Süleyman Demirel. Opening of the private higher schools was a significant attempt owing to the fact that more persons would be able to benefit from university education. The justice Party’s liberal economic policies led to the support of private higher schools, which yielded highly positive results. However, the military memorandum of 1971 toppled the third Süleyman Demirel Government and Nihat Erim administration took over. The private higher schools were taken over by the state and continued to accept students under the state universities’ rule. In this study, increasing of the physical capacities of higher education in order to receive more high school graduates into universities is evaluated and discussed.
