dc.description Oxidative stress is involved in the pathogenesis of asthma. Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) and arylesterase are esterase enzymes displaying antioxidant characteristics. PON1 activity varies widely among individuals and ethnic groups, partly related to polymorphisms.
