Aiolisin en önemli metropolü olan Kyme çevresinde, hem bilimsel kazılar hem de kurtarma kazıları sayesinde birçok noktada kente ait nekropolislerin varlığı tespit edilmiştir. Kesintilerle de olsa Erken Demir Çağı’ndan, MS 7. yüzyıla kadar uzanan geniş bir tarih aralığında kullanılan bu nekropolislerde, birden fazla gömü biçiminin uygulandığı anlaşılmış, farklı tiplerde yapılmış mezarlar ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bu mezarların, kenti çepeçevre saran, ağırlıklı olarak doğu ve güney kısımda kalan tepelerde konumlandığı görülmüştür. Mezarların konumlandığı bu tepeler, tarım arazisi olarak kullanılamayan alanlar olarak tercih edilirken, deniz kıyısına yakın yerler ve antik yolların çevreleri de gömü alanları olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, söz konusu mezarların bulunduğu nekropolislerin, Aiolis ve Ionia coğrafyasında araştırılan nekropolislerle karşılaştırılmasıyla, benzerliklerin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu karşılaştırma paralelinde Aiolis ve Ionia örnekleri üzerinden, kentlerin nekropolis seçimlerinde belli kriterlerin olduğu saptanmış, bu kriterlerin Kyme Nekropolisleri’nde de uygulandığı anlaşılmıştır. |

Previously, the Cyme was known as the most important city of Aeolis. Thanks to the excavations, the existence of the necropoleis has been discovered. The areas of the necropolis were used in a wide range from the Early Iron Age to the 7th century AD. Different types of tombs were revealed along with various types of materials that the tombs were made of. It has been observed that the tombs were organized generally on the southern and the eastern hills surrounding the city. While these hills, where the tombs are located, are preferred as plots that cannot be used for agricultural matter, the places close to the sea shore and the surroundings of ancient roads are also considered as burial ground. In this paper, similarities between the Cyme and the other Aeolis-Ionia necropoleis has been aimed and disclosed. In addition to this comparison and the examples of Aeolis and Ionia, it was determined that there are certain criteria in the necropolis selection, moreover it was perceived that these criteria were applied in the Cyme necropoleis as well. |
