Effect of humic acid added to foliar fertilizer on quality and nutrient content of eggplant and pepper seedlings

dc.description The effects of humic acid added to foliar fertilizer (HAAFF) on seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, shoot fresh weight, shoot and root dry matter and NPK accumulation in leaves of eggplant and pepper seedlings were evaluated. HAAFF was applied to the growing medium at concentrations of 0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 ml.1000 m(-2) and applied to the leaves of seedlings at 0, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 ml.l1000 m(-2). Foliar applications were made 3 times with the same doses during the growing period. Application to growing medium was carried out pre-sowing. Seedling stem diameter, number of leaves, shoot fresh weight, shoot and root dry matter were influenced significantly by both growing medium and foliar applications of HAAFF to eggplant and pepper seedlings. Seedling height was the highest (11.94 cm) with 2500 ml.1000 m(-2) HAAFF application to the growing medium in eggplant and it was the highest (22.81 cm) with 1500 ml.1000 m(-2) HAAFF application to growing medium in pepper seedlings. All parameters increased with increasing HAAFF doses in eggplant seedlings. NPK (%) contents in leaves differed with treatment 1.65-3.45, 0.402-0.753, 2.08-3.94 in eggplant, and in pepper 2.71-3.46, 0.261-0.862, 2.01-2.59, respectively.
