dc.description The effect of colloidal solutions on bacterial translocation was studied in an experimental sublethal hemorrhagic shock model. After achieving a sublethal hemorrhagic in animals resuscitation was performed with four different solutions (9 animals in each group): Group I 0.9% NaCl, Group II 10% dextran 40, Group III 6% hydroxyethyl starch, group IV 4% modified fluid gelatin. 24 hours after anesthesia a laparotomy was performed in sterile conditions to obtain tissue samples of liver, spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes. The translocated bacteria was mainly Eschericia Coli and grew in three animals in Group I, two animals in Group II, three animals in Group III and six animals in Group IV. Statistical analyzes revealed a significant difference between Group IV and other groups (p<0.05). It can be concluded that resuscitation with modified gelatin causes higher bacterial translocation in an experimental sublethal hemorrhagic shock model.
