dc.description Most authorities do not consider hyperuricemia to be an important risk factor for cardiovascular or renal disease. However, emerging data suggest that elevated uric acid (UA) is actually one of the most important factors for cardiovascular disease and that it also plays a significant role in the development of renal disease and metabolic syndrome. In the current review, we will analyze the role of cardiometabolic disorders related to UA and briefly explain the pathogenetic mechanisms behind these relationships. Copyright (C) 2011 S.
