dc.description A Curie-point isotherm map of the whole of Turkey has been prepared from aeromagnetic data by means of a spectral analysis technique. The most characteristic signature of this map is that the shallow depths generally correlated with the young volcanic rocks and the thinned crustal thicknesses in the west reveal geothermal fields and several hot springs. The orogenic Pontide belt of the Black Sea region in the north, the western Taurus belt in the south, and some high plateaus in eastern Turkey show that the deepest Curie isotherm depths range between 20 and 29 km. Depth contour lines elongating in an almost E-W direction are due to the overlapping percentage of adjacent data blocks of 50 per cent in the E-W direction and to magnetic anomalies trending in the E-W direction.
