dc.description In this study, the wastes of the buildings that were destroyed by completing their economic life were granulated into aggregate. Comparisons were made with specification limits by identifying physical and mechanical properties of raw limestone and aggregate obtained from demolition wastes. Afterwards, the granulated aggregate was mixed into Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) at 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% by weight and the remaining part is used as limestone. For each mixing ratio, optimum binder content was determined by using Superpave volumetric mix design procedure. The moisture susceptibility of the samples, with optimum binder content was determined according to AASHTO T 283. Moreover, tests were also performed for the samples without adding waste and the results were compared with the demolition waste samples. When the test results are compared with the limits of the Highway Technical Specifications, it is observed that the water absorption rates of the waste samples and the Los Angeles abrasion test results exceed the specification limits, and it is determined that demolition wastes can be used only at a rate of 25% on asphalt base layers.
