dc.description In the recent years, exergy analysis has been widely used by many investigators in the design, simulation and performance evaluation of thermal systems. However, the studies conducted on exergetic assessment of mixed feed factories are very limited. Recently, most of the aquafeed producers prefer to use more modern extruder processing technology instead of conventional pelleting technology in Turkey. This study deals with the performance evaluation of typical extruder system using exergy analysis method. The system considered has been operated in aqua feed factory located in Izmir, Turkey. In the analysis, the actual data obtained from the measurements are used. The system studied is described first. Then, the exergy destructions in the system are determined for the average measured parameters. Finally, exergy efficiencies of the system are determined to assess their performances and to elucidate potentials for improvement, while the obtained results are discussed.
