dc.description Experiments were designed to promote lateral branching of one-year-old '0900 Ziraat' sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) trees in the nursery. Benzyladenine+Gibberellins (6-BA+GA(4+7), formulated as Perlan) at 0, 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 ppm was sprayed on '0900 Ziraat' trees budded on Prunus mahaleb rootstocks. Treatments were applied on July 7 to the upper 15 to 20 cm of trees 70 to 80 cm high. Tree diameter, height and the number, length and angle of laterals were measured at the end of October. All treatments significantly increased the tree diameter compared to the control. The 500 and 750 ppm Perlan increased the number of long (>10 cm) shoots. The widest branch angle was obtained from 750 ppm. Application of 6-BA+GA(4+7) in the water soluble formulation of Perlan at 500 ppm is the most efficient treatment to stimulate feathering of '0900 Ziraat' nursery trees.
