In this research it was investigated relations between age at sexual maturity and some production characteristics in Japanese Quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Totally 14 female quails were randomly distributed into individual cages and were determined age at sexual maturity, weight at sexual maturity, hen-day egg production and total egg mass production at 24 weeks old, and egg weights. It was also investigated correlations between determined characteristics. In conclusion late sexual maturity caused high sexual maturity weight and lower total hen-day egg production; on the other hand early sexual maturity resulted with increased egg production without any change for egg weight. |
