Demokrasinin içinden nasıl çıkılacağı bilinmeyen bir kriz içinde olduğu iddia edilmektedir. Demokrasinin tarihsel dönüşümüne ilişkin bir perspektif geliştirerek zaten insan tasavvurunun bir yansıması olan demokrasi kavramının daha önce nasıl tanımlandığı ve geçirdiği dönüşümlerle kazandığı yeni anlamların ifade edilmesinin liberal demokrasinin krizini anlama konusunda faydalı olabileceği düşünülmüştür. Bu bağlamda hem demokrasinin 21. yy demokrasisi olduğunu anlamanın hem de bu idrak ile yeni alternatifleri açıklamanın tarihsel süreçlerin bizlere kazandırdığı değerleri hatırlamakla ve demokrasinin tekrar tekrar icat edildiğinin farkındalığını kazanmakla mümkün olabileceği düşüncesinden yola çıkılmış ve bu çalışma doküman incelemesi ile toplanan nitel verilerin kullanılmasıyla tamamlanmıştır. Bu tezin temel savlarından biri liberal demokrasinin kriziyle demokrasinin alternatifi olarak görülen agonistik siyasetin, liberal demokrasinin mevcut krizinden sonra nihai bir alternatif olamayacağıdır. Tarihsel değişimin demokrasiye kazandırdığı bu dönüşüm niteliği, nihai bir yerleşimi kabul etmemektedir. Agonistik demokrasi, demokrasinin tarihsel dönüşümünde ancak bir uğrak noktası olarak tanımlanabilir. It is suggested that democracy is in a crisis that is not known how to overcome it. Through developing a perspective on the historical transformation of democracy, it has been considered that expressing how the notion of democracy, which is already a reflection of human imagination, has been defined previously and the novel meanings it has gained with the transformations it has undergone could be helpful in grasping the crisis of liberal democracy. Within this framework, it is set out from the idea that both grasping that democracy is 21st-century democracy and explaining new alternatives with this grasp could be possible by remembering the values that historical processes have brought to us and gaining the awareness that democracy has been reinvented over and over and this study was performed with the use of qualitative data, which was collected through document review. One of the main arguments of this thesis is that agonistic politics, which is considered an alternative to democracy with the crisis of liberal democracy, could not be an ultimate alternative following the current crisis of liberal democracy. This transformational quality that historical change has brought to democracy does not agree to a definitive establishment. Agonistic democracy can only be described as a transient destination in the historical transformation of democracy.
