dc.description Despite its popularity nowadays, teaching Turkish to foreigners has accompanied several problems. Among them, problems of classification, definition and function in Turkish grammar are the most important. Especially some grammar subjects are told to foreigners with difficulty. One of the main reasons why these problems come out is that Turkish grammar can't be treated adequately. Thus, these problems in Turkish grammar are observed in teaching Turkish as a foreign language as well. The subjects such as imperative and subjunctive mood, inflections with compound tense (inflection of verbs with two moods), nominalisation (-mAk, -mA, -(y)Xs) cause complexity while being told to foreigners. The imperative and the subjunctive mood are the argumentative subjects in historical and contemporary grammar of Turkish. So, there are problems in telling these argumentative subjects to foreigners as well. In this essay, general information about the imperative and the subjunctive mood has been given, their frequency of occurrence and functions in historical terms of Turkish and standard modern Turkish have been mentioned and solution offer has been tried to be brought with a general frame being drawn.
