dc.description Measurement of the attitudes and behavioursof dentistry students towards disabled people isimportant in terms of improving the quality of healthservices that will be provided to disabled people inthe future. The aim of this study was to determine theattitudes of undergraduate dentistry students towardsdisabled people.Materials and MethodsThis study was designed as a descriptive study conductedwith the participation of 179 students attending to theSuleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Dentistry. Thedata were collected using a socio-demographic dataform and the Attitude Scale for Persons Affected byDisability (ASPAD). For the statistical analyses, t-testand One-way-ANOVA were used to compare theaverages of two groups and to compare the means ofthree or more groups, respectively.ResultsIt was found that 57.5% of the students participatingin this study were female and 42.5% were male andtheir average age was 22.24±1.67 years. Students'mean ASPAD score was 60.15±12.76 and thescores did not differ significantly from the variablesincluding gender, disability status, working togetherwith a disabled person in the internship unit, having adisabled member in the family, to the class attendedand the educational level of the parents.ConclusionThe results showed that the attitudes of the dentistrystudents subjected to this research, towards disabledpeople, were moderate. Dental students’ attitudescan be improved by providing information about howto approach to disabled individuals and also by givingtheoretical and practical education and guidance onthe dental care of disabled patients.
dc.description AmaçDiş hekimliği öğrencilerinin engelli kişilere yönelik tutumve davranışlarının belirlenmesi, engelli bireyleregelecekte verecekleri sağlık hizmetinin kalitesiningeliştirilebilmesi açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmanınamacı bir diş hekimliği fakültesinde öğrenim görenöğrencilerin engellilere yönelik tutumlarını belirlemektir.Gereç ve YöntemTanımlayıcı araştırma olarak tasarlanan bu çalışma,Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’ndeöğrenim gören 179 öğrencinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir.Araştırmanın verileri, Sosyo - DemografikVeri Formu ve Yetersizlikten Etkilenmiş KişilereYönelik Tutum Ölçeği (YEKYTÖ) kullanılarak toplanmıştır.Verilerin istatistiksel analizinde, iki gruba aitolan ortalamaların karşılaştırılmasında t testi, üç veyadaha fazla grubun ortalamalarının karşılaştırılmasındaise tek yönlü ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır.BulgularAraştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %57,5’i kadın,%42,5’i erkek olup yaş ortalamalarının 22,24±1,67yıl olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin YEKYTÖ puanortalamasının 60,15±12,76 olduğu, YEKYTÖ puanlarınıncinsiyet, engellilik durumu, staj yapılan birimdebirlikte çalışılan engelli birey olması, ailede engelli bireyolması, öğrenim görülen sınıf ve anne-baba eğitimdurumu gibi değişkenlere göre istatistiksel olarakanlamlı düzeyde farklılık göstermediği tespit edilmiştir(p>0,05).SonuçAraştırmamızın sonuçlarına göre çalışmamıza konuolan diş hekimliği öğrencilerinin engellilere yöneliktutumlarının orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Dişhekimliği öğrencilerinin tutumlarının, engelli bireylereyaklaşımla ilgili bilgilendirmeler yapılarak ve engellihastaların dental tedavilerine yönelik teorik ve pratikeğitimler ve rehberlik verilerek geliştirilebileceği düşünülmektedir.
