dc.description ObjectiveWe aimed to determine early microvascular changesin type 2 diabetes mellitus patients without clinicallyapparent retinopathy by optical coherence tomographyangiography.Material and Methods80 eyes of patients with diabetes mellitus and withoutclinically apparent retinopathy, and 80 eyes of ageand sex-matched healthy participants were includedin this observational case-control study. Vesseldensity in superficial and deep retinal vessel plexus, foveal avascular zone area, and choriocapillaris flowarea in a macular 6.00 × 6.00 mm scan size wereevaluated and compared.ResultsThe groups were similar for age and gender (p=0.971and p=1.000, respectively). The mean duration ofdiabetes was 10.38±6.31 years (range, 1-25 years)in the study group. Choriocapillaris flow area wassignificantly lower in the study group than in thecontrol group (p
