Various methods have been developed for the production of these nanomaterials. The use of phyto-nano synthesis, which is one of the biological-based production methods, has become widespread in recent years. This technique offers an ecological solution. In this method, water is used as a solvent, and the phytochemicals in the plant extract act as reducing agents. In this way, the release of pollutants used in large quantities is prevented and great savings are achieved in energy use compared to physical and chemical production methods. In this study, iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles were produced by using the leaf extracts of Thyme of Sütçüler(Origanum minutiflorum) which is an endemic species. In the study, FeCl2 and FeCl3 solutions were reduced with thyme extract. Optical characterizations were made with UV-Vis spectrometry and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Elemental analysis was performed with Energy Dissipative Spectroscopy (EDS).Keywords: Green Synthesis, Iron oxide nanoparticles, Origanum minutiflorum, Phyto nano synthesis.
