dc.description The term ultrasound refers to sound waves of a frequency that is above the human hearing range. Ultrasonography has an established diagnostic role in many fields of medicine. Ultrasound imaging, while initially developed to visualize internal organs, is now being applied to image the skin. Skin imaging began with determination of skin thickness in 1979. Recently ultrasound have been used to image cutaneous neoplasms and skin diseases. The main advantages of this method of imaging include its non-invasiveness, safety, high patient tolerability and relatively low cost.
