Bu tez çalışmasında, iplik boyama aşamasında mikrokapsül aplikasyonu ile standart bir triko ipliğin boyama prosesi sonunda müşterilerin beklentilerini karşılayabilecek nitelikte katma değerli bir ipliğe dönüştürülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Proje kapsamında, ipliklere katma değer olarak gizli ısı enerjisi depolama/yayma ve termokromik özellik kazandırılmasına odaklanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, faz değişim malzemesi (FDM) ve üç bileşenli termokromik sistemlerin (TSlerin) emülsiyon polimerizasyonu yöntemi ile mikrokapsülasyonu ve elde edilen mikrokapsüllerin bobin boyama prosesi sırasında veya sonrasında % 100 pamuk ve % 100 polyester ipliklere çektirme yöntemi ile aplikasyonu için uygun proses koşullarının belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmada, çektirme metodu ile aplikasyon için uygun poli(metil metakrilat-ko-glisidil metakrilat) duvarlı mikrokapsül üretimi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Mikrokapsüllerin duvar yapısını oluşturan kopolimer yapısında mevcut glisidil metakrilat monomerinin varlığının duvar yapıya epoksi fonksiyonel grup kazandırması ve bu grup ile kapsül duvarı ile lif molekülleri arasında moleküller arası çekim kuvveti oluşturulması ön görülmüştür. Mikrokapsül aplikasyonu öncesi ipliklere katyonizasyon işlemi uygulanarak boya banyosunda, sulu ortamda zayıf negatif yükle yüklü mikrokapsül duvarının lif üzerine çekilmesini sağlayacak pozitif yüklü lif yüzeylerinin eldesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında, çektirme metodu ile iplik boyama (bobin ve çile) sürecinde banyo aplikasyon koşulları ve mikrokapsül konsantrasyonun ipliğe aplike edilen mikrokapsül varlığı ve dağılımına etkisi de değerlendirilmiştir. Üretilen FDM ve TS mikrokapsüllerin morfoloji, kimyasal ve termal özellikleri sırasıyla Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM), Fourier Dönüşümlü Kızılötesi (FT-IR) Spektroskopisi, Difransiyel Taramalı Kalorimetre (DSC) ve Termogravimetrik Analiz (TGA) ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ideal küresel morfolojide, ortalama parçacık boyutları nanometre (200-400 nm) seviyelerinde kapsüllerin üretildiği ve mikrokapsüllerin termal enerji depolama özelliği ve tekstil proseslerine yeterli termal direnç özellikleri sergilerdikleri belirlenmiştir. Mikrokapsül uygulanmış ipliklerin yapısındaki mikrokapsül varlığı ve dağılımı SEM görüntüleri ile incelenmiştir. Mikrokapsül uygulanmış ipliklerin ısı düzenleme özellikleri sıcaklık ölçüm sensöründen ve veri kaydedici sistemden oluşan düzenek kullanılarak geliştirilen T-history testi ile incelenmiştir. Mikrokapsül uygulanmış ipliklerin termokromik özellikleri CIELab sistemine dayalı renk ölçüm cihazı ile belirlenmiş ve renklerdeki değişim ölçülen L*, a*,b* değerleri ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca mikrokapsül uygulanmış ipliklerin iplik mukavemet, düzgüzsüzlük, hata ve tüylülük özelliklerindeki değişimler belirlenmiş ve boyama öncesi iplik değerleri ile kıyaslanmıştır. Boyanmış ipliklerin yıkama, ter, su ve kuru ve yaş sürtünme renk haslıkları standart metotlara uygun olarak belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu tez çalışmasında pamuk ve polyester ipliklerine çektirme metodu ile uygulanabilecek FDM ve termokromik özellikli mikrokapsül üretimi emülsiyon polimerizasyon yöntemi ile başarılı bir şekilde gerçekleştirilmiştir. İplik boyama proseslerinde ipliklere mikrokapsül aplikasyonuna olanak sunan uygun aplikasyon proses koşulları belirlenmiştir. Üretilen ipliklerin yapısında homojen dağılım sergileyen mikrokapsül varlığı ve yapıdaki mikrokapsül ürüne bağlı olarak ipliklerin termoregülasyon ve/veya termokromik özellikleri ilgili test/analiz yöntemleri ile ortaya konulmuştur. In this thesis, it was aimed to transform a standard knitwear yarn into a value-added yarn meeting the expectations of the customers at the end of the dyeing process, with microcapsule application at the yarn dyeing stage. Within the scope of the project, the focus was on providing latent heat energy storage/releasing and thermochromic properties as added value to the yarns. In this context, it was aimed microencapsulation of phase change material (FDM) and three-component thermochromic systems (TSs) by emulsion polymerization method and determination of the suitable process conditions for the application of the obtained microcapsules to 100% cotton and 100% polyester yarns by exhaustion method during or after bobbin dyeing process. In the study, poly(methyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate) walled microcapsules suitable for application by exhaustion method were produced. It was foreseen that the presence of glycidyl methacrylate monomer in the copolymer structure formed the wall structure of the microcapsules with epoxy functional group and that this functional group created an intermolecular attraction force between the capsule wall and the fiber molecules. Before microcapsule application, it was aimed to obtain positively charged fiber surfaces that was enable the pulling of the weakly negatively charged microcapsule wall onto the fiber in the dye bath by applying cationization process to the yarns. Within the scope of the study, the effect of bath application conditions and microcapsule concentration on the presence and distribution of microcapsules on the yarn in the yarn dyeing process by exhaustion method were also evaluated. The morphology, chemical and thermal properties of the produced FDM and TS microcapsules were determined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), respectively. It was determined that capsules were produced in ideal spherical morphology, average particle sizes at nanometer (200-400 nm) levels, and they exhibited thermal energy storage and thermal resistance properties that were sufficient for textile processes. The presence and distribution of microcapsules in the structure of microcapsule-applied yarns were examined with SEM images. The heat regulation properties of the microencapsulated yarns were investigated with the T-history test, which was developed using the device consisting of a temperature measurement sensor and a data logger system. Thermochromic properties of microencapsulated yarns were determined with a color measuring device based on the CIELab system and the change in colors was evaluated with the measured L*, a*, b* values. In addition, the changes in yarn strength, unevenness, defect and hairiness properties of microencapsulated yarns were determined and compared with yarn values before dyeing. Color fastnesses of dyed yarns to washing, perspiration, water and dry and wet friction were determined in accordance with standard methods. As a result, in this thesis study, FDM and thermochromic microcapsule production, which can be applied to cotton and polyester yarns by exhaustion method, has been successfully carried out by emulsion polymerization method. In yarn dyeing processes, suitable application process conditions that allow microcapsule application to yarns have been determined. The presence of microcapsules showing homogeneous distribution in the structure of the yarns produced and the thermoregulation and/or thermochromic properties of the yarns, depending on the microcapsule product in the structure, were revealed by the relevant test/analysis methods.
