dc.description Background: It is very important for nursing students to be sensitive to patient privacy, in terms of their professional stance in their professional life. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the views of 4th grade nursing students about patient privacy in perinatal clinics. Methods: In this study, phenomenological qualitative method was applied. The sample of the research consisted of 25 students studying in the 4th grade of in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Data were collected by semi-structured in-depth individual interview method between December 2019 and March 2020. The data obtained during the interview were analyzed through content analysis. Results: The data obtained were grouped under five themes as the definition of privacy, the staff’s attitude towards patient privacy, the reflection of the violation of privacy on the patient, the difficulties encountered in protecting patient privacy, and the actions to be taken to protect patient privacy. The majority of students stated that the staff working in the perinatal clinics were negligent in protecting patient privacy. Students stated that it would be beneficial to educate the staff about patient privacy and to adjust the physical conditions of the hospital environment to protect privacy. Conclusion: Privacy in perinatal health services is a very important issue that is not emphasized enough. In this study; It has been determined that student nurses have a high awareness of patient privacy and that new studies on the subject are needed.
