dc.description Multiple sclerosis (MS), that is the most common non-traumatic cause of disability among young adults, is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease of the central nervous system. Despite recent remarkable advances in treatment, there is no cure for MS. Many unmet needs of persons with MS encourages them to use complementary and alternative medicines, especially herbal medicines, as a promising therapeutic option. Here, potential benefits and mechanisms of action of some herbal medicines preferred by Turkish MS patients are reviewed.
