<p><b>Chapter 10 Extreme cold protective textiles</b><br></p><p>Recently, consumers have been demanding lightweightness, favorable hand,<br></p><p>stretch, dynamic breathability, and transfer abilities, besides insulation and heating</p><p>functions being adaptable to the body or environmental conditions. In this</p><p>chapter, starting with a summary of physiological effects of the cold, layers of</p><p>extreme cold protective clothing (ECPC) are introduced in cases of both material</p><p>and structure, focusing more on functional and smart materials/structures,</p><p>enabling survival and comfort under dynamic conditions. Moreover, quality parameters</p><p>of the ECPC and sustainability issues that should be considered for ECPC</p><p>are also discussed.</p> |
