dc.description © 2023, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Australian Ceramic Society.Researchers have recently been working on development of alternative shielding material to be used in radiation shielding purpose. The radiation shielding parameters are expressed by the linear attenuation coefficient (LAC), mean free path (mfp), effective atomic number (Zeff), effective electron density (Neff), and exposure buildup factor (EBF). This is because of hazardous effect of radiation on human cell. In this study, the parameters for shielding materials for gamma rays have been calculated for four different composites where different rates of Fe2O3 were used. The effect of Fe2O3 on the all parameters was also obtained. It was found that the Fe2O3 rate is important on the radiation shielding properties of selected composite materials.
