Description:

Dear Editor, The change and evolution of "knowledge", the new commodity of the global world, by attaining digital form, has made science a valuable "commodity". The importance of transferring science and “Open Access” from the knowledge scale to scientists and researchers, and sharing and transforming them into an added value is increasing gradually. In the global world, today's information has emerged from printed sources and transformed into digital form. In this transformation, "Information Technologies (IT)" created by human civilization and the global network "Internet" have been decisive. Today, knowledge is produced more than ever before. The amount of data produced until 2003 in the first 5000-year period in which information was recorded in the history of human civilization is 5 exobytes. The amount of data produced daily from 2013 to 2022 is 5 Exobytes (+) and above (John D. Kelleher & B. Tierney, 2019, Data Science, QNB). Open science is the name of the multi-component ecosystem where the barriers to science are removed and science is liberated. Open access is a legally authorized platform to use in new scientific studies that provides view and unhindered access to scientific data. The main components of the open science ecosystem are Open Science Ո Open Data Ս Open Access Ս Open Source. The open science ecosystem and open access applications provide scientific freedom and autonomy to scientists. The understanding of "Open Science" and "Open Access" and the international platforms developed accordingly have made a strong contribution to the development of similar structures and electronic scientific publishing and journals (Figure 1). Our national open access platforms TÜBİTAK/APERTA, ULAKBİM/TR Directory, DergiPark, YÖK Thesis, University/Open Access Archives, and international Open Science and Open Access Platforms play a leading role in the development of electronic publishing. In the international organizations on Open Science and Open Access, it is seen that open access platforms such as European Research Information Systems (EuroCRIS), European Research Area (ERA), OpenAIRE, MedOAnet, PASTEUR4OA, CINECA, CERN provide scientific research data.
