Biofilm defined as a group formed bymicro-organisms living in a polymeric structure in a polymeric structure byadhering to surface. In general, concretes are typically characterized asquasi-brittle materials that exhibit low tensile strength. For this reasoncracks, fragment breaks and decomposition may occur in concrete. There is aneed for repair and / or strengthening as a result of various factors inreinforced concrete structures. Nowadays, classical repair and strengtheningmethods are used. In this study, biofilm was researched as an alternativerepair method for reinforced concrete structure with biofilm-forming bacteria(bacillus subtilis). Bacterial strains were cultivated and reproduced indifferent media such as ethanol, glucose. Liquid nutrient media were used forpre-activation of bacteria. The strains were maintained to bacteria protection. After concrete samples are cured 90 days, cracks were formed according to TS500 limit values for experimental studies. Bacteria were injected in samplecracks and 24, 48, 72 hours of observations were made after the injectionprocess. It was observed that bacteria produced expanded polystyrene foam(EPS). As a result of these observations; It was shown that biofilm-formingbacteria fill cracks in concrete samples and repair cracks.
