Description:
The aim of this research is to examine the presence of activities related to the “Zero Waste” project in the contents of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade textbooks. This research is a document review research. Subject areas, subjects and achievements about environmental education were determined in the Science Curriculum of 2018. Then, the activities corresponding to these gains were determined in the contents of the textbooks. The compliance of these activities with the purpose of the “Zero Waste” project is labeled with the codes “Suitable, Partially Suitable and Not Suitable”. In the research findings, most of the activities aimed at the gains within the scope of environmental education do not contain explanations and goals that emphasize the purpose of this project. It has been observed that in the projects suitable for the purpose of the zero waste project, the emphasis is more on recycling rather than saving and controlling waste.
