Hızla gelişen teknoloji sayesinde hayatımıza yeni kavramlar girmektedir. Uzay fırlatmalarının gerçekleştirildiği rampaları gezmek karasal uzay turizmi kapsamına girmektedir. Yüksek irtifalı alt yörüngesel uçuşlar ise jetler ile deneyimlenebilen uzay seyahatleri olarak adlandırılır (Civelek ve Türkay, 2019). Hayatımıza giren bu kavramlardan biri de uzay turizmi kavramıdır. Uzay seyahatleri tarihi askeri alanda Yuri Gagarin adlı kozmonotun yörüngeye seyahat etmesiyle başlamıştır. Bu gelişme sonrasında devletlerin ve özel şirketlerin yeni bir pazar haline gelmesini öngördüğü uzay turizmi girişimleri gerçekleşmiştir. İlk sivil uzay turisti olan Denis Tito ile uzay turizmi fiilen gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu araştırma uzay turizminin Türkiye'deki potansiyelini ve Türkiye'deki vatandaşların uzay turizmi algılarını değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma iki ayrı örneklem ile uygulanmıştır. Turizm paydaşlarına ve uzay turisti olma potansiyeli yüksek olduğu düşünülen yüksek gelire sahip vatandaşlara uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaya Türkiye'nin 33 farklı vilayetinden toplam 78 kişi katılmıştır. Katılımcılar ile nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan görüşme tekniği kullanılarak çevrimiçi ve yüz yüze olarak görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar neticesinde Türkiye'de henüz bu tür seyahatin yapılması teknolojik ve kültürel açıdan mümkün görülmemektedir. Ancak bu tür seyahatleri gerçekleştirmiş olan Spacex gibi şirketler ile anlaşmalar yapılarak Türkiye için de bu seyahatler mümkün kılınabilir. Türkiye'de uzay turizmi kavramları noktasında vatandaşların bilgisinin eksik olduğu ve net olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Türkiye'de bu tür seyahatler mümkün olduğu takdirde ilginin çok olacağı ve bu tür seyahatlerden elde edilen gelirin turizm pazarında büyük paya sahip olabileceği öngörülmektedir. Thanks to rapidly developing technology, new tourism concepts are also entering our lives. One of these concepts that comes into our lives is the concept of space tourism. The history of space travel began when a cosmonaut named Yuri Gagarin traveled into orbit in the military area. After this development, space tourism initiatives were realized, which states and private companies envisioned to become a new market. Space tourism was actually carried out with Denis Tito, the first civilian space tourist. This research aims to evaluate the potential of space tourism in Turkey and the perception of space tourism of citizens in Turkey. The research was carried out with two separate samples. It has been applied to tourism stakeholders and high-income citizens who are considered to have high potential to become space tourists. A total of 78 people from 33 different provinces of Turkey participated in the study. Online and face-to-face interviews were conducted with the participants using the interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods. As a result of the results obtained from the research, it is not yet possible to make such travel in Turkey from a technological and cultural point of view. But it is believed that these trips may be possible for Turkey by making agreements with companies such as Spacex, which have conducted such trips. At the point of space tourism concepts in Turkey, it was found that the knowledge of citizens is incomplete and is not clear. If such trips are possible in Turkey, it is expected that there will be a lot of interest and that the income from such trips can have a large share in the tourism market.
