Su mimarisinin önemli bir yapı grubunu oluşturan çeşmeler, ait olduğu dönemin üslup ve özelliklerini yansıtarak Osmanlı kent olgusu içerisinde yer bulmuştur. Çeşme yapıları, hem Müslüman halkın çeşme yaptırmayı bir hayır olarak görmesi hem de Osmanlı tebaasının suya atfettiği önem ve suyun hayati değeri gibi birçok etken nedeniyle mahallelerde çok sık rastlanılan bir mimari öge olmuştur. Dönem mimarisinin şekillendirdiği bu yapılar bir yandan da içerisinde bulunduğu kent dokusunu şekillendirmektedir. Genellikle mimari özelliklerinin ele alındığı çeşme yapıları, içerisinde bulunduğu kent dokusuna katkısı konusunda bazı sorular akla getirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, kent mimarisini tüm açıklığıyla sergileyen Pervititch haritalarında yer alan çeşmelerden yola çıkılarak, bu küçük ölçekli ama önemli yapı grubu olan çeşmeleri kent dokusu üzerinden incelemek amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma alanı sınırlarını oluşturan Üsküdar bölgesinin, Pervititch tarafından çizilen paftalarında yaklaşık 102 çeşme yapısı işaretlenerek, günümüz haritalarında mevcut durumu incelenmiştir. Osmanlı dönemi kent olgusu; kentin tarihine, coğrafi yapısına, sosyolojik yapısına ve sahip olduğu kültürel birikime dayalı olarak oluşmuştur. Kent olgusu içerisinde yer bulan mimari yapılar ise yer aldığı kenti şekillendirmektedir. Bu noktada, kent dokusunda küçük ölçekli bir yapı grubu olarak yer bulan çeşmeler, hem içerisinde bulunduğu mekâna göre şekillenmiş hem de mekânı şekillendirerek kentsel dokuya katkı sağlamıştır. Pervititch haritalarında kent dokusuyla bütünleşmekte olan çeşmelere günümüz kent ölçeğinde bakıldığında, hızla gelişen kentleşmenin içerisinde neredeyse kaybolmaktadır. Bu noktada günümüz modern dünyasında çeşmelerin önemini yitirdiği sonucunu çıkarılmakla beraber, toplumun bu konudaki bilincinin olmadığı ve kent dokusuna sahip çıkılmadığı da bir gerçektir. Fountains, which constitute an important building group of water architecture, found a place in the Ottoman urban phenomenon by reflecting the style and characteristics of the period they belonged to. Fountain structures have become a very common architectural element in neighborhoods due to many factors such as the Muslim people's view of having a fountain built as a blessing, and the importance attached to water by Ottoman subjects and the vital value of water. These structures, which are shaped by the architecture of the period, also shape the urban texture in which it is located. Fountain structures, which usually deal with their architectural features, raise some questions about their contribution to the urban fabric. In this study, it is aimed to examine the fountains, which are small-scale but important building groups, through the urban texture, starting from the fountains in the Pervititch maps, which display the urban architecture with all its clarity. About 102 fountain structures were marked on the maps drawn by Pervititch of the Üsküdar region, which forms the boundaries of the study area, and its current situation was examined on today's maps. Ottoman period urban phenomenon; It was formed based on the city's history, geographical structure, sociological structure and cultural accumulation. The architectural structures that take place in the city phenomenon shape the city in which they are located. At this point, the fountains, which take their place as a small-scale building group in the urban fabric, have both been shaped according to the space they are in and have contributed to the urban texture by shaping the space. When we look at the fountains, which are integrated with the urban texture in Pervititch maps, on the scale of today's city, they almost disappear in the concrete. From this point, it is concluded that fountains have lost their importance in today's modern world, but it is also a fact that the society has no awareness of this issue and the urban fabric is not protected.
